Now, do keep in mind a guitar is a guitar and you can play 99% of the music on one guitar that you can the other. The Casinos P90s are bright and have more prominent bass and upper mids in their output, making them just perfect for leads and probably the best style pickup for cutting through a mix. The les pauls Humbuckers drive amps harder and have a dark and thick, lower mid heavy tone to them, but they tend to lose definition and get muddy with lots of gain and inexperienced EQ setting. They just thin and wispy and have no warmth. Even the brittle vintage strat pickups I've played have more to them than the sterile, anemic split coil humbuckers. Be careful of coil tapping, every advertisement says it will give you all the tones of single coils and humbuckers, but this is a bit of a stretch. The casino makes up for that with having some of the most incredible jazz and funk tones available.Įpiphone has been getting better with their pickups, so the Pro buckers in the Les Paul should sound pretty decent, just stay away from the coil tapping. If you play a lot metal, I'm going to go ahead and recommend the Les Paul as the Casino's single coil P90 pickups will hum loudly with loads of gain and the hollow body guitar will be prone to feedback. Two of the most versatile style guitars around.
